STYLIZED SHOOT - Valentines Love Shoot

Have you ever just been in love?

Not proposing
Not engaged
Not having a wedding

Just in love?

I think that moment and feeling should be captured as well. We photograph everything else?

Awhile ago I was approached by Stefanie from Stefanie Cepeda Photography to work with Jessica from MUAHjwn to host a contest for a stylized shoot for a couple that was, well...in love! We let people submit three words that best described themselves and we chose the one that plucked at our heartstrings and tapped our funny bone the most.

The lucky couple was Christina & Peter. They also happened to be the most gorgeous, romantic, happiest and cutest couple EVER! (and might I add, so very much in love).

I stylized a shoot that incoprated their city style but fun and playfulness. Jessica did her magic with her make up skills and took and stunning woman and made her look AMAZING and Stefanie, an amazing up and coming photographer worked away making their story come to life.

This is the result:

Product Review - Old Fashioned Cotton Candy Machine

Just recently I was asked by the thelashop.com to review one of their products and blog about it.

I immediately checked out the site and was pretty excited to get to review something. They have tons of stuff, and it is all straight across the board, from photography stuff all the way to tattoo kits!

They gave me a few things to choose from to review and I chose the cotton candy machine. I thought this may a great option for my clientele as many brides are looking for unique favors or things to do or have at their wedding and a cotton candy machine could be just the ticket!

Once I requested to product it came very quickly. I got it shipped to the states and picked it up just over the border.

The cost of the cotton candy machine at the shop was $50.00. I knew for $50.00 I could not expect the world or the best quality and it was pretty much just that.

Here are the specs from the site:

Features:
  • Color: Yellow
  • Power: 450 Watts, 110V/AC
  • Easy to operate with a ON-OFF Switch.
  • All metal spinner for food safety and best producing performance.
  • Comes with a safe and tough plastic cotton candy bowl.
  • 15"" diameter bowl size to make larger cotton candy.
  • The inner base and mechanisms are all made of metal.
  • Tough and sealed plastic housing keeps the metal mechanisms from rusting.
  • Easy to clean and portable.
  • Please read the Instruction before using.
Package Includes:
  • 1x Cotton Candy Maker with Cotton Candy Spin
  • 7x 50g Colorful Cotton Candy Sugar(Peach, Grape, orange, blue plum, Cantaloupe, Mango and Strawberry Favorite)
  • 1x Spoon
  • 1x Instruction Manual
Our 15"" cotton candy machine can work continually!! Other small cotton candy makers should stop 2 minutes after each two cotton candy.

I quickly set everything up and got to work quickly. It was very easy to set up and came with everything except a paper spinner to collect the cotton candy. I would highly recommend purchasing some of these first (not like me!) as it was hard to "twirl" the cotton candy with a spoon! :)

I did exactly as the instructions said and waited for my treat. The instructions said it would take 2-3 minutes for the cotton to start forming, but it did not! I started to get a little worried, turned the machine off and then started it again and left it for a bit. I would recommend for first time users that it takes about 10-15 minutes (instead of 2-3 minutes) for the cotton to start forming. Once it did though, I got cotton candy!

I used purple (grape) on my first try. It comes with tons of different colors though (seven to be exact), with flavours like, peach, grape, orange, plum, cantaloupe, mango and strawberry. Once i got my first batch (and ate it, YUM!) I started making other colours, those batches only took 2-3 minutes to come in. (as per the instructions). I could work on them continuously and did not have to turn the machine off. Soon enough I had a couple of balls of cotton candy!

I should state however that you do not get the big fluffy cotton candy that you image at the fair, they were much smaller. This could have been my error though when not using a cone, or because the machine is plastic and smaller.

I think this would be great for a wedding. I would recommend making the cotton candy ahead of time though and maybe placing them into small bags as favors. Its a little work but it would look pretty!

Overall i would recommend the product. You basically get what you pay for. The site does carry more expensive, industrial cotton candy machines and i would imagine those would be of better quality and produce the bigger fluffier cotton candy that one sees in the movies :)

Please do check out thelashop.com though, they have TONS of amazing stuff! I spent hours there pawing over all the different items they have. Well worth it!

Pantone - 2013 - Emerald Green

So it is that time of the year again...Pantone has released what they feel to be the "it" colour for 2013.

I have to say, I am in love with this colour.

Emerald Green!

I love that its a bold, rich colour and can be paired with even something soft and more subtle. It is perfect.

Chic Vintage Bride
We have seen this colour popping up through out the year, especially on one of our favorite people at the moment, Kate Middleton.

as well as Angelina Jolie and many other famous faces.

I myself have a personal obsession with Elsa Corsi's green tear drop earrings, and think they would make an amazing statement piece on any bride.

It is such a rich and vibrant colour that works for both an elegant and formal wedding or a relaxed chic and vintage theme. Have fun with it!
