Stylized Shoot: Modern meets Vintage - reveal

Pantones colour tangerine is the in colour for this year. It is such a vibrant and strong colour that i feel just exudes happiness. It is also a strong colour and I felt the strength in this would accentuate the "modern" feel combined with the blush pinks and butter yellows to tone down and bring in the more "vintage feel".

The colours were easy to work with and I think it turned out very well. I can see why this is the "in" colour for this year.

I love the brides dress. It may seem similar to you...this time last year a particular Princess wore a dress similar to this. Our version, from Isabelles Bridal, has shorter sleeves and a shorter train. We added a rhinestone belt for some glam and some modern jewellery from Keltie Leanne Designs. The little flowers girls dress was also a touch a vintage but a glamour sash, encrusted with crystals, pearls and bows added just the amount of modern glam we were looking for. The large flower from Adorn Atelier was perfect for our flower girl, adding a soft romantic element.

Like any wedding, everything is in the details.

And it is not a party with out cake. This stunner was made by the talented Melissa from Buttercream Couture, who not only made the cake, but then modelled as the bride and had her daughter be the flower girl!

I am so excited to have been able to work with such an amazing group of talented vendors. I loved everything about this shoot and really feel like the vision came to life!

I hope this shoot is an inspiration to you as you plan your big day!

Stylized Shoot: Modern meets Vintage Glam Pt.1

A few months ago I took on the huge challenge of organizing a stylized shoot. It was my first one and I was so incredibly excited to get to flex my creativity a bit and come up with a beautiful "wedding". I was lucky enough to get to work with some amazing vendors that were so supportive and incredibly talented that the once daunting task became something fun and incredibly exciting!

The idea behind the shoot was combine a few of the popular trends in the wedding industry, and because I am such an old soul at heart, anything vintage. The pantone colour for this year is tangerine, everyone loves diamonds, baubles and crystal and who does not want to seen an old chandelier hanging from a tree with some of the most gorgeous flowers ever draped on it?! It seemed so simple to me to combine everything a girl loves into one vintage glam shoot.

All the photos are circulating already but I want to share one of my favorite ones with you for now, next week I will bombard you with tons of eye candy to enjoy.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all the vendors the participated in this shoot. It was so humbling to get to work with so many amazing and talented woman. You could honestly feel the passion and love for what they do as we worked on this shoot. And of course a very special thank you to Lisa from Ophelia Photography who's talent brought the vision to life!

Budding love: Cherry Blossom Weddings

Although fall is my favorite season...spring is a very very close runner up. How can someone not get excited when the air starts to warm but still carries a cool freshness to it, when the sky becomes super blue while dotted with budding green branches and the air has a perfume to it of sweet sweet cherry blossoms.

I love spring. Love it.

I live in Vancouver and even though its a jungle of glass and steel I can still escape to areas and find tons of bunnies, squirrels and my all time favorite. Cherry Blossoms.

I love Cherry Blossoms.

When this time of season starts budding  I feel like wedding fever strikes. The mood of a dull dreary and wet winter in the lower mainland lifts and I see photographers out and about snapping shots of couples for engagements and wedding pictures and I just feel so giddy. Spring has sprung.

For anyone getting married in the spring, especially in Vancouver, one of my favorite things to incorporate into a wedding are cherry blossoms. My husband and I actually took our engagement pictures in March with all the cherry blossoms and then incorporated them into our wedding  in our centerpieces.

I am obviously not the only bride out there who has fallen in love with cherry blossoms, there are an array of ways to incorporate them into your wedding now and have a theme to your big day. The easiest way to start out planning a cherry blossom wedding would be start with the colour. Cherry blossoms bloom in an array of pinks, ivories and whites. We were already have purple and green in our wedding so pink may have been a little wild so we stuck with ivory. But pink is a great starting point for a cherry blossom themed wedding!
